Last summer our beloved Tabby cat passed away. Since then we have been catless, but want kittens! Although our previous cats were both were Humane Society cats at one time, we have decided to purchase “hypoallergenic” Siberian cats from a Siberian Cat Breeder, Lundberg Siberians.
Lundberg Siberians owners, Tom and Meredith Lundberg, explain cat allergies on their website “The majority of cat allergies are caused by a small stable protein called Fel-d1. This allergen is found only in cats, not other animals. Fel-d1 is very small and remains in the air for a long duration. Fel-d1 is produced by salivary, skin and anal glands. Some Siberian cats have lower levels of feline allergen than other domestic cats. Siberians have enjoyed excellent placement rates in homes with cat allergies.”
Since my husband, Kendall, and some of my relatives have moderate to more severe cat allergies, we decided to purchase two Siberian kittens from Lundberg Siberians. I can not say enough about Lundberg Siberians, a reputable breeder of Siberian cats. As with any breeding program one needs to be aware and shy aware from lines which could have risks of genetic diseases. Tom Lundberg has done hundreds and hundreds of hours of research to ensure that his lines do not carry known risks of certain health problems, but are also lines which are low allergen. If you ever consider purchase of a Siberian Cat, you need to make a call to Tom, whether you are considering his kittens or ones from another breeder. Tom, as part of the Siberian Reserach Institute, can assist you in a complete pedigree review for the kitten you are considering – this will include a risk analysis of certain genetic issues known to be present in the Siberian breed.
Future posts on this blog will chronicle the lives of these two Siberian kittens we have reserved.
Hi Truth Princess!
I am so glad it worked out with Tom; I at least have a small part in this as I own the daddy of the litters.
You will love the kittens!

Alida,
You have a BIG part in this – your cat is the Daddy! Thank you so much – I feel so fortunate to have found your and Tom’s catteries.
Our kttens have those nice “tiger” stripes from their Daddy! We can hardly wait to get them.
