What does this blog post “Whatever Happened to Answering the Phone?” have to do with Siberian kittens? Nothing. I have started a new category on this website called “Customer Service in America”. This is the first blog post under this new category. So back to the topic at hand.
Yes, that’s right. Whatever happened to a real live person answering the phone when you call the customer service department of a major or even little company? I really detest those phone trees. You call customer service and you get a recorded message that forces you to press all the buttons on your phone. I get so frustrated sometimes that I push the buttons on my phone really hard – as though that’s going to make any difference, ha. There is one company that I know has not resorted to phone trees – its Nordstrom. When you call you actually get a real person who knows how to direct your call. Nordstrom Department Store should somehow be rewarded for answering their phones the old fashioned way – with a real live person! Give Nordstrom your business and the next time you call Nordstrom, thank them for answering their phones in person.
